Chico Pope to Serve as Chairman of Wisconsin Restaurant Association

Chico Pope has been elected to serve as Chairman of the board of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association for 2016.

The Wisconsin Restaurant Association is one of the largest trade associations in Wisconsin with over 7,000 members.   WRA represents the entire foodservice industry in Wisconsin which includes over 16,000 licensed food establishments. WRA’s mission is to provide members the services and tools to be successful through advocacy, education and communication. As chairman, Pope is the key leader and will set the direction and purpose for the Association during his one-year term.

Pope grew up in the restaurant industry, starting out as a dishwasher at the age of 12. His restaurant management career began at the age of 22 when he entered the Howard Johnson’s management training program. Through the years, he has managed family restaurants, supper clubs, truck stops, fast food restaurants, convenience stores, contract food services and cafeteria operations. Pope also taught part-time at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville for 10 years. With his wife Dawn, Pope bought the Buckhorn Supper Club in Milton in 1997. Their two children are also part of the family business with their daughter Shelley Huhnke serving as the bar and restaurant manager and their son Kevin Pope as the restaurant’s chef.

Pope has been an active WRA member throughout his career and has been supportive of WRA and its mission to serve restaurants in Wisconsin. He has represented his fellow restaurateurs well through his service on the state WRA board of directors for 10 years.
